One of the quotes I live by...

One of my favorite music groups, Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband (check them out at http://www.shupe.net/) came out with a song called "Dream Big" on their last album. It has since become one of my most favorite songs in the world. It has a lot of meaning for me because I first heard it when I was married to Jeremy. Every time I hear it I get emotional because the lyrics are so powerful. It teaches an important lesson in life to always dream as high as you can for yourself. I have tried to implement this lesson in all aspects of my life.
This is a horrible picture but it was the best that I could get this morning. I have the phrase on my attic wall where I use my talents best. It is a constant reminder to keep going on projects that I would normally give up on because they're too hard. I wish I had it posted in every room of my house so that I would always be reminded of it!
I feel that I dreamed big when I married Jeremy. I am SO lucky to have such an amazing husband. Sure our marriage isn't perfect... but we are always dreaming of ways to make it better. I remember when I was a little girl and during my dating years... I always dreamed of the man that I would marry. In the chorus of the song, it says, "And when you dream, dream big, As big as the ocean, blue. Cause when you dream it might come true. But when you dream, dream big." I'm so glad that I dreamed big and my wish came true when I married Jeremy.
I've learned that you can dream big for other people as well. Being in the Young Women's Program for over a year helped me come to that realization. This past month it's been hard to let go of the girls as their leader and allow the other leaders to be there for them. Every Wednesday night I seem to let my mind wander to the girls and I am constantly tempted to go down to the church and participate in the weekly activity. I'm grateful for what that calling taught me. I had many joyous moments in working with the girls and many sorrowful moments with them as well. One of the verses in the song helped me through those times of joy and sorrow... it says, "When you cry be sure to dry your eyes, cause better days are sure to come. And when you smile be sure to smile wide, and don't let them know that they have won. And when you laugh be sure to laugh out loud, cause it will carry all your cares away." There is something so healing in being able to cry your eyes out and then wipe them away and know that everything will be okay... or laughing because you can't do anything else to make the hurt go away!
Another part of the song says, "And when you see, see the beauty all around and in yourself, and it will help you feel okay. And when you pray, pray for strength to help you carry on when the troubles come your way." Powerful stuff, huh? That part helped me see the beauty that Cleveland has to offer me... like this hill that we drive down all the time... it's gorgeous! It also helped me boost my self esteem and see the beauty that I have within myself. The best part is the part about prayer. I always pray for strength since I heard this song. And Heavenly Father has always answered my prayers.
I'm glad we dreamed big when it came to having children as well... I am so pleased with our children and how they are turning out. They are all so amazing and whenever I look at them... I know that my Heavenly Father loves me because He trusts me enough to raise them in this crazy world.

I guess this is my first 'philosophy' type blog! I try not to let too many people into my deepest thoughts because they are so dear to my heart. I felt the need to write all of this out today for some unknown reason. Hopefully this blog will have a good effect on someone!

Chelle you are amazing. Do you know how often I think "I wish I were more like Chelle?" I am always striving to have what you do--a house, kids, be a good mom, etc. Thanks for being such a good example
