Lincolns stay in the PICU

Lincoln had his first trip to the Emergency Room late Friday night. He was admitted to the Pediatric ICU with pnemonia. They later found out that he just had a really bad asthma attack. He was pretty good during his stay... all of the nurses thought he was just the cutest, sweetest 3 year old around! He was lucky enough to have a nurse who was in our ward so we knew that he was in good hands... He had to get albuterol treatments during his stay and was on oxygen most of the time. He really liked his 'dinosaur mask'! He was pretty good about taking his medcine except for one kind that was really yucky. He was a very brave boy for all that he had to go through while he was there.
Chauncey was so nice and let him borrow lots of things to do while he was in there. It kept him really busy and he had lots of fun with everything! He particularly enjoyed the aquadoodle and the art set. He drew pictures for lots of friends and decorated his room!
He also really liked the cool tv that came down from the ceiling and the finding nemo game that they brought for him to play... he was in heaven!
He got kind of tired and needed lots of rest. He was such a good boy... he really missed being at home and would say, "I'm just done now... yets just go home."
He wanted french toast for nearly every meal... the first time he had it he gobbled it up SO fast! He was such a hungry guy!
One of his favorite things was when they brought the doggies to visit! He reallyy liked the little ones...
He wasn't so sure about the big ones...
He is doing well. We got to meet lots of doctors that specialized in asthma and they taught us different ways to treat him in the next few months. He will be on the medicine Singulair through the winter and then they'll re-evaluate him and let us know if he'll be on that long term or not. He'll still be doing albuterol treatments every 6 hours until the doctor says he's okay and then he's free from that! We're just happy that he's feeling better!

That's so sad that such a little guy is so sick! But he's so brave, and so cute!

Sophie ended up in the hospital twice for the same thing (the summer she turned 2). After that they put her on Singulair and she's been taking it every day since then. She hasn't had a bad attack since, even though a few times we've had to get out the nebulizer during colds. Sometimes I feel bad about giving her medicine every day, but she doesn't mind taking it and it keeps her well. Good luck!

(By the way, this is Jessie :))
