the binky fairy.

With our impending trip to Utah... we decided that we should break Gracie girl of some of her 'baby girl' habits and help her enter into the 'big girl' phase of her life. Kind of cruel.... but it's the perfect timing since we have about a month before we get on the airplane. First step... lost the binky. We love the binky as much as she does because it's such an easy fix every time she doesn't want to go to bed at night. Just stick the binky on her pillow and it's happy sailing to dreamland! Yesterday we told her all about the binky fairy. The story is... if you lay your binky out on the windowsill at night... she'll come by your house and replace it for a new toy! Gracie bought it for about 10 minutes... and then she figured it out that she wasn't going to bed with her beloved binky! It took some coaxing... and extra snuggles with daddy... but we managed to get her to bed without it. She had a very rough night and spent Sunday home with Daddy and sick Grammers (he has a touch of the flu). Tonight was a lot better. We got rid of all the binky's in the house except one (for Graham). So far so good! Hopefully she'll be cured by the end of the week.
This morning she was greeted by a new little Kelly barbie doll named Nia from the Binky Fairy! We're so proud of our big girl! Next step... potty training! (yep... it's try number two for this little one! She just wasn't ready last time... wish us luck!) We love our Gracie girl!

we had a visit from the binky fairy in july with ella...yeah she was turning 3! she only got it when she was sleeping but it was time...i was fine with her having it for so long because it was just to go to sleep...whenever she would ask for it the first month we would remind her that the binky fairy took it and left her a big girl toy! :)

We just recently broke Maddie of her Sippy cup with Milk in bed at night. It was alot easyer then I thought it was going to be. It was only a few nights of tears and tantrums. But once she looked through each of the cupboards and the dishwasher and saw that there were no more of her kind of sippy, (she ONLY would drink from those nuby ones)she was fine.

Good luck with the PT. I am going to try Maddie after the first of the year. I decided after Millies full year of traning, I wasn't even going to try with Maddie until she was almost 3. Boy it has crept up.

Aaahhhh!! I dread the day that we have to do this with Dianna. She LOVES the binky too! But the binky fairy idea gives me hope . . .
