Christmas Eve!

We had so much fun having Christmas break here at home in Cleveland. We were so worried that we were going to get super homesick and sad missing our families but we succeeded in staying busy enough that we were happy through the Christmas holiday. It was so fun to start our own traditions and really focus on building our family unit. I gained a stronger appreciation for Jeremy having him home these past few weeks. He does so much around the house and with the kids. He really is such an amazing husband. I am so blessed. I have so much to be grateful for this year. It brings me to tears when I think of all of the gifts we've been given this holiday season. People are just so generous. I love Christmas because it brings everyone closer. As I began getting the kids ready for church in the morning I couldn't help but think once again how fortunate we are to be parents to such amazing kids. They are just so sweet and angelic that I know they are a gift from my Heavenly Father. Lincoln was able to sing with the Primary for the first time and I was reminded once again of what a sweet little boy he is. Each of our children are so unique and bring so much to our family. We took this picture the minute we got home from church because we never want to forget our first Christmas in Cleveland.
We decided to read the Christmas story as a family that night to celebrate the birth of Christ. The kids have been watching the DVD of the Christmas story all month long on Sunday mornings as they eat their breakfast. So, they are familiar with Joseph and Mary and what happened that night in Bethlehem. We had them dress up and as Mary and Joseph together with Graham as our Baby Jesus. Lincoln really got into it and insisted that we call him Joseph and Gracie Mary for the little while they were dressed up.
It was the sweetest thing ever. We didn't think it would last long enough to snap any pictures of them... we were wrong. They were so quiet and still and we felt the spirit so strong and we talked about the Savior and all that He has done for us with them. Then we read the Christmas story with them. Gracie loved to point to the 'baby!" on every page. After we read the story we each chose a gift to give to Jesus this year. That is one of my favorite parts about Christmas... choosing something that I can work on this next year to bring myself closer to the Savior. We had an unforgettable Christmas Eve this year. Hopefully each year will get better and better!
