palmyra.

We had so much fun in Palmyra... we tried to see everything possible. The kids were incredible little troopers and we accomplished so much in our one day there! Lincoln took this shot of Jeremy and I outside of the Martin Harris Farm. It's always fun to see things from his point of view! I thought the rocks on the house were so neat! They did such a good job building these homes! Here is Link next to the grave of Alvin Smith, son of Emma and Joseph. I can't imagine burying a child... even though he was 25 years old, it can't have been easy for Joseph and Emma to see him go. I felt the spirit really strong when we found his grave. It was one of only a handful that was marked.
The log home was pretty amazing. Lincoln liked the room that they added on for Lucy... he thinks we should have a room for grandma at our house too! :) It was so neat to look over and see the temple peeking out of the trees across from the sites. Next time we come we'll have to plan to do a session while we're there. The trees were so gorgeous. These two were my favorites out of all of them. Aren't they pretty? I loved walking through the frame home. I am always so impressed by the simple way that the saints lived. It seems like homes today are often filled with 'stuff'. I want to try and learn from the saints and keep my home simple like they did. We all thought it was neat to see the Cooper Shop. This is one of the places that Joseph hid the plates while living in Palmyra. It's amazing that the mobs never found them. Even when they were hidden right above them in the loft area.
